Curriculum

Andrea Manni graduated from Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Innovazione of University of Salento, Italy, in 2004. He is actually a PhD student in automatic control of the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Innovazione of University  of Salento, Italy. His research interests include biped robotics, nonlinear control and sandwich systems. In the biped robots it is proposed a simple control architecture that it is particularly suited for small size robots having limited onboard computational power and limited sensor suits. The basic idea consists in decoupling the problem of stable walking in the two relatively simpler problems of leg gait generation and upper bodi feedback control to guarantee stability. In sandwich systems, an approach for the stabilization of these systems containing a general nonsmooth nonlinearity is studied. The proposed solution is based on variable structure control theory ensuring the robust ultimate boundedness of the system trajectories in a neighborhood of the origin.
